This organization was founded over 130 years ago in New York City by Henry Bergh. He was the son of a prominent shipbuilder who founded the ASPCA to fight for the welfare of animals in the United States. This organization is based on England's Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to animals. This website has information on employment opportunities, available animals, and disaster preparedness. 
Houston SPCA
This organization is the Houston Chapter of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. This shelter has animals available for adoption and the website has information about a variety of pets and health issues.
American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP)
The American Board of Veterinary Practitioners promotes and recognizes the highest standards of veterinary clinical practice.
